Vilas-Boas, who was working the family farm and who would later become an attorney, said that he saw a red star, or what he thought of as a red star, approaching. It continued to descend, and Vilas-Boas saw that it was an egg-shaped craft with a red light in front and a rotating cupola on top. Three legs came from the bottom as it prepared to land. Vilas-Boas tried to get away on the tractor, but the engine quit. He leaped from it and tried to run but was caught by several short creatures in gray coveralls and helmets. Four of the creatures were able to drag him to their ship.10
Inside, he was stripped, washed with some sort of liquid or gel, and taken through a hatch into another room. Above the hatch, which is important to us, were a number of red symbols. Vilas-Boas said that he was able to memorize them and draw them for investigators. They have been reproduced at number of websites and in a number of magazine articles.
Blood was drawn by a device placed on his chin. He was then taken to another room occupied by a naked female who had white hair on her head but bright red hair under her arms and in the pubic area.11 He felt sexually drawn to the female and they had sex. When it was over the female pointed to her belly and then toward the sky, apparently letting him know that she would become pregnant and their child would be raised on another world.
His “task” finished, he was shown around the ship. He tried to steal a small instrument to validate his tale, but the aliens saw him take it and made him surrender it. When the tour ended, he was taken from the ship, which then took off. He had been gone for four hours.
The story, because of its bizarre abduction and sexual content, was labeled a hoax by skeptics and many in the UFO community. Although it seemed that the story had been around since February 1958, the first mention in print seems to be in 1962. Interestingly, the story does contain details that were mentioned in a magazine article that appeared in November 1957, or at the height of the UFO wave of sightings, including the landings around Levelland, Texas, that involved an egg-shaped craft that glowed red. What this means is that information had been circulated around Brazil prior to Vilas-Boas’s story surfacing.
The important point here is that Vilas-Boas did talk of symbols painted on the craft, though they were inside rather than out, and they had been red. Although interesting in relation to what Zamora had reported, it is more of a coincidence than corroboration.
